Do you know why a thoroughbred race horse wears blinders during a race? I've only been to a few horse races in my life, but the answer is pretty clear.
The horse wears blinders so it doesn't get distracted. The jockey needs to know that the horse is looking straight ahead at all times because if it doesn't, it could mean disaster.
For those few minutes of the race, 100% concentrated focus and intensity is on nothing else except the race, persuing excellence and crossing the finish line in first place.
