Can Your Clients Give Out Your Name with Confidence?

Or Will They Hesitate?

Several years ago, we had most of the interior of our previous house painted. We were getting ready for a huge out of state move and were in the process of getting the house ready to show to potential buyers.

Not knowing any professional painters, we turned to a realtor in our old neighborhood. Chris was the guy who knew everybody. He had made quite a nice niche for himself and if you needed any work done around the house, Chris was your guy.

So, we asked him for the names of house painters and without hesitation, he gave us a name and phone number.

We called his referral and it turned out to be a team of two brothers. They both came to the house, gave us an estimate right on the spot and guaranteed the price. Everything was included… labor, supplies and even the paint! To our surprise, their estimate was very reasonable.

Four Fun Days

This team of painters, Frank & John, were in our house for about 4 days. I don’t know much about painters, but these guys were amazing! They worked so well together, they were fast, they cleaned up every day and their work was as professional as it gets.

We liked their work so much, we asked them to paint our basement, hallway and 1st floor bathroom. They came back the following week and were done in about 3 days. They were very friendly, we all got along really well and you know, after being together for that long, we learned quite a bit about them and their families.

When it came time to pay the bill, they lived up to their promise. It was not a single penny over their estimate. They also included free touch-ups until the house sold. They did such a great job on the inside of the house, we asked them to come back to paint the outside, too.

Are People Talking About You?

When a business does great work for you, you can’t help but talk about them. I had mentioned their work to a friend of mine, and he hired them to do work in his house.

Another friend had just built a house, around that time, and she said the painters the builder hired did a terrible job. I told her about Frank & John and she called them. An old neighbor needed his house painted, so we gave then Frank and John’s phone number.

You Can’t Buy This Kind of Advertising

What do you think these types of referrals did for Frank & John’s business? My guess is that they stayed very busy. And I’m sure I’m not the only one who was giving out their good name. I remember them telling us they don’t advertise and rely strictly on referrals and word-of-mouth for their business.

About a month or so later, Doug called them back and asked what would they charge to paint some of our ceilings on the second floor.

We had given them so many referrals, they came back and did the job for free.

Frank & John are simply two brothers running a small business. They are prompt, professional, personable, do fantastic work and truly take care of their customers. I had total confidence that when I gave my friends their name that Frank & John will take care of them, too.

How do your customers find you? Do you take care of your them like Frank & John took care of us?

Will your customers have that kind of confidence in you to give your name to their friends?

Provide an exceptional product and outstanding customer care and you’ll have more business than you can handle, just like Frank and John.

You simply can not buy that kind of advertising.
