Can you give us a brief history of the company?:

In July, 1969 Harland C. Stonecipher was involved in a head-on collision which resulted in serious legal fees. he had auto ins. to cover his car, medical ins. to cover his medical bills and life ins. had the accident been fatal. But he had no coverage or protection for his legal bills that accumulated.

He begins researching the industry of European legal expense plans. By Aug. 8, 1972 Harland Stonecipher creates Pre-Paid Legal predecessor, The Sportsman’s Motor Club.

Pre-Paid Legal offers an everyday life events legal plan, with now over 1.4 million members and independent associates across North America.

What type of business is it?

Why did you start this business?

I joined Pre-Paid legal because my passion is helping people. For as long as I can remember I have always been there to help my friends & family in what ever they needed, I think with pre-paid legal I have found my purpose in life. I’ve found that working in the small business and group benefits departments that I can help many families and small businesses with our life events legal plan.

Do you have any upcoming events that you would like to share?

I will be hosting an HR webinar on March 24Th at J Lotti’s 225 South Street, Waukesha, WI 53186 starting at noon, if need be I will send a link to this webinar the day of – just use the contact information on my website. Also this will be a monthly event. Also every week we have an open house 9242 W. National Ave, West Allis, WI starting at 7pm, business casual dress.

On April 7-9, 2011 I will be in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where we will have our International Convention. We will also corporate training and will meet the new owners of Pre-Paid Legal, Mid Ocean Partners. I am looking forward to this new and exciting partnership.
